VOLUNTEER

NOVA West Island is a volunteer-driven organization; without their commitment our services would not exist. That is why we are proud to count on more than 185 active volunteers in our different programs.

If you wish to be part of our big family and make a difference in our community, here is an overview of the different opportunities:​

  • PALLIATIVE HOME VISITS
    Visit people living with cancer or ALS in their homes offering companionship and emotional support while providing much-needed respite for their caregivers. Time required: depending on volunteer availabilities and client needs. Training is offered. Contact us at     at 514-695-8335 or info@novawi.org.                                                                                                                                                                               

  • MEDICAL TRANSPORT
    Drive people living with cancer to their treatments and medical appointments in the Montreal hospitals. Time required: according to volunteer availabilities. Reimbursement of fuel costs. Contact us at 514-695-8335 or     info@novawi.org.                                                          

  • SENIOR ACTIVITY PROGRAM                                                                                                                                                                               In person or virtually, provide a warm and friendly environment for seniors living with neurocognitive disorders. In activity centers, welcome clients and assist them with art, creation and mental stimulation and/or entertain them with music, singing or pet therapy. Virtually, become a pen-pal for our clients through telephone or virtual contact. Time required: Once a week or more for activities and/or once a month for entertainment. Contact us at 514-695-8335 or info@novawi.org.                                                                                              

  • FUNDRAISING                                                                                                                                                                                              . Organize a fundraising activity for NOVA as a third party or participate in one of our annual events or community activities, helping  either as a group or individually.   • THRIFT SHOPS FOR NOVA                                                                                                                                                                                       Thrift shops for NOVA play a vital role in supporting the organization, serving as a major fundraising source. By collecting and selling donated items, these shops generate essential funds that directly contribute to NOVA West Island’s community health programs, ensuring continued care and support for those in need. Fundraiser

FUNDRAISER

NOVA West Island is privileged to have individuals, associations, businesses and community partners organize fundraising activities to support our cause.

Over the years hundreds of community events have been conducted by third parties, including sporting, art & cultural, shopping and leisure activities.

No event is too small! We appreciate your support and we will be happy to provide you with our logo and all the information required to plan your activity. Our community network will also help promote your event.

Thanks to the financial support of individuals, foundations, corporations, community organizations and municipalities, NOVA West Island continues to offer palliative, cancer and ALS care, as well as access to all our programs and services that meet the needs of vulnerable people in our community.

It is important to know that we are not a government organization and we do not receive any federal or provincial funding, except for financial contributions from the “SAB - Soutien à l’Action Bénévole” program.  Luckily, our well-rooted reputation and community partnerships guarantee the sustainability of our healthcare organization, the retention of highly qualified and motivated staff and volunteers.

 

As we experience and anticipate the growing need for our services, we are looking for like-minded partners to work with us to build trustworthy and supportive relationships by responding to the needs identified by the community itself.

 

NOVA West Island would be honored to become one of your partners in improving the quality of life for residents of the West Island.
